Global Eats’ Mission
New Yorkers have cuisines from all around the world conveniently at their fingertips. But many don’t know the culture and customs behind the ethnic food they’re eating, or even if it’s authentic for that matter. The wide-scale Americanization of ethnic cuisines has been so far-reaching it’s difficult to detect, even for the savviest eaters.
Global Eats NYC goes off the beaten path to investigate the city’s vast international fare and help food lovers find the real deal, its cultural significance, and of course, how it’s meant to be enjoyed. The how-to videos demonstrate the proper way to eat traditional foods while other sections focus on the ingredients, the tools, and the people.
Who We Are
Jordan Shakeshaft
Jordan may not own a working oven, but life’s never been tastier. Forced to scour far and wide for sustenance, she’s discovered some of the best bagels, bubble tea and baklava the city has to offer. Her motto: No carbs left behind.
Perry Santanachote
Perry once drove 400 miles overnight for an authentic taco. For her, food isn’t just about eating – it’s an experience. An avid traveler, she chooses to encounter the world through her stomach and believes there is no better way to learn a new culture than to devour the local cuisine. She approaches the diverse city of New York in much the same way.
Jessica Dailey
Whether she’s experimenting with a new hummus recipe or chasing her favorite food cart, Jessica is always searching for the next best meal. She savors any culinary challenge and welcomes the opportunity to try different cuisines. She doesn’t eat to live – she lives to eat.
